Welcome to my first writing! As you might have guessed, this post is supposed to be a proper introduction for future readers, but it primarily serves as a starting point for me to reminisce in the future. As someone who has no prior experience in blogging, I expect to encounter problems and hurdles along the way, especially in regards to my consistency. However, I believe that embarking on a challenge like this is truly captivating as the opportunities that might lie in the future are without boundaries.

Why Blogging?

I see blogging and writing in general as a new yet beneficial activity that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time. This idea was probably sparked when I took and prepared for the IELTS exam last month, in November. Since then, I have been constantly trying to find ways to continue practicing my writing skills as it is a paramount competency to have, especially when you are planning to study abroad, just like I do.

Initially, I considered writing my blog in Bahasa Indonesia since I was still very hesitant to let others see my English writing. However, at the end of the day, mistakes are inevitable, even for native speakers. To be honest, I expect to make mistakes — it might sound a bit cliche — but, it is indeed the best way to improve. Therefore, my mind is now set and my decision solidified to give blogging a try.

Besides, writing blogs is beneficial since it allows you to expand and broaden your knowledge on a wide range of topics that interest you. To write a meaningful and readworthy post, research is essential to find information worth sharing, thus simultaneously deepen your understanding of the topic. Finally, writing has been regarded by experts to be a great mental exercise to boost creativity and productivity as well as to put life events into perspective alongside many other noticeable benefits.

So, What’s Next?

As of now, the least that I can do is, hopefully, be persistent and consistent in writing. In the past, I have been great at starting new projects and dumping out ideas but often, many of them are left untouched and unfinished. And as we are still living amid a pandemic, it might seem like the fitting time to pick up on a hobby or long-term habit that I want to focus and allocate my time and energy on.

When it comes to blogging, people often hold different views and strive for varying goals. One might use a blog as a method to share information, to serve as a personal diary for his/her thoughts and concern, or even to profit and make a living out of it, mainly by revolving their content around a particular topic. Eventually, I might end up picking a niche for my writings, but for the time being, I love having the ability to write on any topics that I desire.
